:
MSAD 58 has an opening for a full-time Technology Director. This position is full time, year round and is available July 1, 2025.
Job Summary:
This position is full-time, 260 days per calendar year.
The Technology Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and long term planning for all technology related functions within the school district. This includes both instructional and administrative technology, support and planning for network infrastructure and client devices, professional development for all staff, and curriculum planning in regards to the use of technology in the classroom.
Management
- Supervise and evaluate Technology Department staff
- Participate as a member of the Administrative Team to understand the needs of the schools and provide guidance on technology-related issues
- Attend School Board meetings
- Work with other administrators to ensure that technology-related policies and procedures are understood and followed by students and staff
- Ensure district compliance with software licenses
- Ensure district compliance with all laws concerning technology use in schools such as CIPA, publication of student information on the web, email archiving, etc.
- Provide leadership and recommendations in regards to the MLTl program at the middle school and high school. Understand all of the rules and procedures as determined by the Maine Department of Education
- Stay informed about technology-related state initiatives
Data Management
- Administer the PowerSchool Student Information System including all setup, configuration, customization, and user training for teachers, administrators, students, and parents.
- Upload all student enrollment data to the State of Maine Infinite Campus reporting system and ensure data integrity as it relates to subsidy and other program funds
- Import assessment data to Inform to facilitate access for teacher and administrators
- Assist teachers and administrators with data collection and analysis to help guide instruction
Planning
- Provide technical design and financial planning to ensure that all data networks and servers are up to date and maintained as appropriate
- Establish replacement cycles to ensure that student and staff devices are replaced on a regular schedule
- Ensure that the district has an updated and state approved Technology Plan at all times
- Research new technologies for both administrative and instructional use and make recommendations on purchases or programs to be used
- Recommend School Board policies and school procedures involving technology (ie, student computer use, staff computer use, website guidelines, etc.)
- Develop tools to increase employee efficiency (ie, workflow software, etc.)
- Work with Facilities Management to make recommendations on renovations or construction as needed
- Plan for phone system upgrades and installations; work with contractors as needed
- Be aware of current developments and trends in technology and make recommendations to ensure that District is up to date and ready for the future
Maintenance & Support
- Prioritize repairs and maintenance based on hierarchy of impact
- Establish and evaluate processes to provide technical support and repairs for all technology equipment. Monitor the effectiveness of these processes and be able to document work done by the department.
- Maintain inventory of all technology equipment in the district
- Manage user accounts for staff, students and parents for all systems as needed (ie, PowerSchool, email, MLTl, local networks, etc)
- Oversee and support the district email system
- Design and maintain the district webite. Support schools in maintaining a positive presence on the web.
- Coordinate with MSLN to ensure continuity of Internet service to all buildings
- Provide "on-call" support for network and server outages on weekends and after hours
- Install network infrastructure as needed
- Support NWEA testing including setup, uploading of data, and teacher training
- Troubleshoot and maintain phone systems and video surveillance systems
- Provide support for networked photocopiers and coordinate with service vendor to control printing costs
- Assist high school administration with building master schedule in PowerSchool
Technology Purchasing
- Participate in the budget planning process
- Manage all technology related expenditures
E-Rate Administration
Manage the "ERate" process including:
filing all necessary forms;
selecting vendors;
procuring eligible items;
communicating with E-Rate and responding to requests for information;
maintaining records of all related information; and
ensuring reimbursements are received.
Staff Development
- Provide opportunities for the Technology Department staff to attend seminars, workshops, courses, and in-services to ensure that they maintain current skills and gain skills as needed
- Coordinate the technology professional development plan for the District to ensure that all staff (teaching and non-teaching) have the training necessary to be efficient in their jobs
- Formally or informally evaluate the technology skills of district employees and target professional development as needed
Technology and Curriculum Integration
- Guide the vision of the district in regards to classroom integration of technology and provide teachers with the resources and training needed to meet the vision
- Work with other administrators to establish a curriculum that addresses safe use of technology tools and digital literacy as well as basic skills in the use of technology
Other
- Participate in professional organizations such as ACTEM to stay apprised of current trends in educational technology use in the state of Maine and nationally
- Coordinate with the Technology Departments of other school districts to share information and services where it makes sense
- Plan and conduct parent and community informational meetings and trainings in accordance with MLTI
- Provide a contact for community organizations concerning technology-related issues and requests (ie, borrowing projectors, using labs for training classes, etc.)
- Assist principals in disciplinary investigations when evidence is available via technology
Qualifications:
B.S. or higher in related field
Experience in pesonnel and project management
Experience in networks, computer troubleshooting & repair
Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) through Maine Dept. of Education
