Yamhill County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) is actively recruiting to create a pool of diverse candidates for current and future full-time entry-level Deputy Sheriff vacancies in the Corrections (Jail) Division and Enforcement (Patrol) Division, as assigned by the Sheriff. Additionally, Reserve Deputy candidates are encouraged to submit their scores under this posting. It is important to submit your scores and application by the deadline to be considered for employment.
Application Deadline:
YCSO will pull scores from the National Testing Network (NTN) on October 8, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. The following items must be submitted by the deadline:
NTN FrontLine National A written/video test scores
Oregon Physical Ability Test (ORPAT): Candidates must submit ORPAT results (from within the last 12 months, with a time of 6:20 or better, and a pass on the Dummy Drag).

Department Overview:
The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office serves a population of nearly 109,000 residents across 718 square miles. The department provides 24-hour patrol services in both suburban and rural areas, including timberlands and waterways. The Yamhill County Correctional Facility is a 255-bed minimum to maximum security facility, which also includes a Work Release Center for up to 50 inmates. The YCSO also patrols unincorporated areas and contracts with several cities for law enforcement services. Specialized units include the Major Crimes Response Team (MCRT), Marine Patrol, Rural/Woods Patrol, and Special Investigation Unit (SIU).
Salary Information:
Starting Salary: $5,901 - $8,224 per month, depending on experience.
Represented position through Teamsters Local 223.
Incentive pay for education, certification, and bilingual skills.

Job Requirements:
Age: 21 or older.
Citizenship: U.S. citizen or able to obtain citizenship within one year of hire.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Driver's License: Valid and unrestricted state-issued driver's license with the ability to obtain an Oregon driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
English Language: Ability to read, write, and speak English (bilingual incentive pay available).
Vision: Must meet Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) requirements.
Certification: Must be able to be certified by DPSST within the timeline established by Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR).

Candidates must pass written, physical, and oral exams, in addition to medical and psychological exams.
