POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Bookkeeper/ Payroll Clerk at Fence Direct, you will play a vital role in maintaining the company’s financial health by accurately recording transactions, managing accounts, and ensuring financial compliance. Your attention to detail and organization will help streamline operations and support the company’s growth. This role requires strong accounting skills, efficiency, and a proactive approach to financial recordkeeping.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

• Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions in accounting software.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, and tracking outstanding balances.
• Ensure timely bill payments and vendor management to maintain strong business relationships.
• Prepare financial reports, such as profit and loss statements and balance sheets, for management review.
• Assist with payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and tax requirements by organizing records for tax filings.
• Maintain proper organization of financial documents, including receipts, invoices, and reports.
• Collaborate with management to improve financial processes and efficiency.
• Support end-of-month and end-of-year closing procedures to ensure smooth financial operations.

CAPABILITIES / KEY COMPETENCIES:

• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting software.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial data and transactions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with vendors, clients, and internal teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Experience handling confidential financial information with integrity and discretion.
• SPANISH SPEAKING REQUIRED

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years of bookkeeping experience in a business or accounting environment preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is required.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Familiarity with tax preparation and compliance is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Capability to handle financial documents and reports efficiently.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
